Gregory Sakwa
Dr. Sakwa will spend his fellowship year at Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in Kisumu, Kenya under the mentorship of Zachary Kwena, PhD and Isabel Scarinci, PhD, MPH. His research will focus on assessing the acceptability of self-sampling for HPV testing among women in rural communities of Kenya.
Dr. Sakwa is a health scientist at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. His career goal is to be a refined health researcher in three years. To achieve this; Dr. Sakwa’s plan is to work closely with his mentors by joining their research groups, conducting original research as the principal investigator with the aim of pursuing research grants, publish at least two manuscripts in referred journals and participate in at least one international conference per year. Increasing awareness of the community in health prevention and promotion activities with the aim of promoting and improving their health and empowering them to take charge of their health promotion activities. Mentoring students in the field of community health with the aim of empowering them to be advocates of the community.
