Donald Salami

Dr. Salami will spend his fellowship year at Aga Khan University in Nairobi, Kenya under the mentorship of Anthony Ngugi, PhD, MSc, Manhattan Charurat, PhD, MHS, and Janet M. Turan, PhD, MPH. His research will focus on predicting interruption in treatment (IIT) in patients receiving antiretroviral therapy, using a combination of time-to-event and machine learning modeling approaches.

Dr. Salami is an operational manager in health informatics and a postdoctoral fellow with INSIGHT. His career goal is to utilize data science and health systems science to address public health challenges, by developing and implementing innovative solutions that improve health outcomes for individuals and populations in developing countries. Dr. Salami’s career has been greatly influenced by his experience working in several capacities in research and public health in Africa and seeing the impact of health disparities in developing countries. His personal experience growing up in a developing country further motivated him to pursue a career in public health with a focus on health equity and improving health outcomes.
