Arthur Johnson

Dr. Johnson will spend his fellowship year at the University of Botswana in Gaborone under the mentorship of Elizabeth Chiao, MD, MPH and Mogomotsi Matshaba, MB, BCH, BAO. His research will focus on the impact of HIV on outcomes in women with breast cancer receiving tamoxifen in Botswana. Dr. Johnson is a general surgeon who completed his training in Minneapolis, MN and subse-quently served 4 years as general /trauma surgeon in the US Navy. He has worked abroad in Tanzania, Iraq and most recently in the breast cancer and melanoma section in Kalmar, Sweden. Dr. Johnson is an up-and-coming researcher whose career goal is to contribute to finding ways to reduce the burden of breast cancer morbidity and mortality in Botswana, Sub-Saharan Africa and globally.
