Adebola Adejimi
Dr. Adejimi will spend her fellowship year at the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) in Nigeria, under the mentorship of Sylvia Adebajo, MBBS, MPH, MS, MD, PhD and Clement Adebamowo, MBChB, MD, ScD, FWACS, FACS, FASCO. Her research will focus on evaluating the effect of teacher-led intervention in secondary schools to improve knowledge of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV vaccine uptake for the pre-vention of cervical cancer among adolescents in Lagos State, Nigeria.
After receiving her degree in Medicine and Surgery, Dr Adejimi completed her internship and postgraduate residency training in Community Medicine at University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria and became a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP). She received a Master in Public Health degree in Community Health from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and she is a PhD candidate with special interest in reproductive and family health at the same institution. Dr Adejimi currently holds a faculty appointment as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Community Health and Primary Care, College of Medicine, University of Lagos and a Clinician at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria. She is passionate about using community-based health interventions to improve health out-comes.
