Abhimanyu Abhimanyu

Dr. Abhimanyu will spend his fellowship year at Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation Eswatini in Eswatini under the mentorship of Andrew DiNardo, MD, Cristian Coarfa, PhD and Gugu Maphalala, BSc. His research will focus on combining epigenomics and stimulated transcriptomics to aid the discovery of novel biomarkers for HIV-associated tuberculosis (TB), to improve discriminatory capacity in high burden TB-HIV setting such as Eswatini.
Dr. Abhimanyu is an early career investigator now based at Baylor college of Medicine, Houston, Texas. He has expertise in both basic and clinical sciences, and he wishes to build a career at the interface of machine learning, basic science, and clinical studies. Such exper-tise he believes would help understand the basic pathophysiology of TB and HIV-associated TB which can be leveraged into better diagnostic/prognostic biomarkers for the disease in high burden settings. He believes that such research will not only lead to more accurate diag-nosis of TB but also contribute to host-directed therapies. He has worked with multiple col-laborators in international settings and is very motivated in contributing to tackle the HIV-TB syndemic in high burden settings.
