About the Consortium

The Integrated Networks of Scholars in Global Health Research Training (INSIGHT) consortium is formed between the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB), and the University of Pittsburgh (UP). The consortium aims to provide the next generation of aspiring global health researchers in the U.S. and in LMIC by giving scientists, early in their careers, a mentored research training experience in global health at established biomedical and behavioral research sites across 24 LMIC institutions in 20 countries.

Leadership

Our leadership team, composed of global health researchers who are nationally recognized for their extensive and multidisciplinary expertise, has well-defined positions that correspond to the unique needs and composition of the INSIGHT program and its consortium partner institutions.

Steering Committee

Our steering committee is comprised of a pair of individuals; one from a U.S. institution and one from an LMIC institution; both with significant expertise in each research area. In addition to contributing to activities in these specific areas, the steering committee members assist in the recruitment and selection of candidates and provide regular inputs on the training program.
